Product Description Gotan Project's new album Tango 3.0 fluidly steps back on the dance floor where their last album Lunatico left off. Group members Philippe Cohen Solal,Christoph Mueller, and Eduardo Makaroff have constructed yet another beautiful melange of traditional Argentinean tango, dub, jazz and electronics. Tango 3.0's 11 tracks are at once seductive and propulsive.

Tango in the dark... April 20, 2010 Nse Ette (Lagos, Nigeria) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The music of Gotan Project comprises Tango inflected electronic/Dub sounds, with instrumentals (the beautiful melancholic Jazzy "Tango square" with an incredible horn section), some disembodied vocals ("Rayuela" with a childrens chorus and author Julio Cortázar reading from his novel of the same name, "La Gloria" with a narration by Victor Hugo Morales of Maradona's second goal against England), and some clear female vocals by Villalonga ("Desilusion", "Peligro").
The dark ominous "Mil milones" has a deep Dub bassline, while the lush "Tu misterio" is a soothing male/female duet. The truly beautiful instrumental "De hombre a hombre" has a big band Jazz feel and sounds like something from some Spagetti Western. Closing is the lilting theatrical "Erase una vez" with weeping lyricon.
For dancing, or just plain chilling out.
You know what to expect April 23, 2010 Sherman McCoy (München) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been listening to this album many times and I can understand the mixed reviews. Many people are disappointed with the new Gotan Project album. In my opinion most of them were awaiting for something new and innovating, because the band was very innovative from its beginnings. Lunatico set the bar quite high. However, I see Tango 3.0 as a consolidation of their work. They know what they do and this album is really well-crafted. You will not discover any new sound (in the end it is tango, everyone knows how tango sounds). Furthermore, some of the songs in Tango 3.0 remember us to their previous records "La revancha del tango" and "Lunatico".
Nevertheless, it is Gotan Project so if you are a fan you will not be disappointed. They rely less on electronic beats and more on musical instruments and vocals. This album is the least "electrotango" of their discography. Some people mentioned that the worst of the album are the vocals. I disagree and even Rayuela is an interesting experiment, for sure not the best song of the album (mine are El Mensajero and Erase una vez) but not as bad as it has been described.
Most of the songs are quiet and good to hear while having a good conversation or enjoying a good wine. I had the opportunity to listen them live and I am pretty confident that a Tango 3.0 concert will be an amazing experience.
If you are new to Gotan Project you should start with La revancha del tango. If you are the owner of a lounge restaurant / bar you must definitely buy this CD for your collection. If you like tango you should also buy it. Finally, if you are a Gotan Project fan, you should support them by buying this album. Tango 3.0 is well worth $13.00
it's really pretty damn great May 13, 2010 D. Gonzalez (Eugene, OR United States) i was ready to not love this, as it's so rare for artists to maintain a high level of quality, but after two weeks i'm still loving it more and more. and it's great for dancing tango!
